Do you want to work side by side with police officers, firefighters & hospital staff? The trauma intervention program is currently recruiting volunteers 16 yrs & older to provide emotional support at emergency scenes to victims immediately following a trauma or crisis. The volunteers also provide practical assistance and explain the procedures of various agencies. So if you're a Fresno County resident with compassion and a desire to help others, register today!!

TIP Volunteer Training Dates: January 25th 2024 Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) Foothill Mountain of the Sierra's Inc. We are always looking for compassionate individuals who are ready to take the next step in serving their community. Due to the high-sensitivity of work involved with our organization, all volunteers must meet the following requirements: Must be 16-years-old or older Clean driving record Clean criminal history (complete background investigation will be performed) Commit to (3) 12-hour shifts per month Attend monthly Continuing Education meeting Attend 36-hour training academy* If you meet the above requirements, then we want you! *The academy will teach you the five Emotional First Aid skills of reaching out, protecting, reassuring, organizing and reinforcing. It is taught with the help of rescue personnel and mental health professionals. Becoming a volunteer requires the 36 hours of training, a three-month field-training program, plus mandatory 3-hour continued education classes once per month. I Orientation - Thursday: January 25th - 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm II Understanding Survivors of Tragedy - Friday: January 26th - 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm III Emotional First Aid Skills (EFA) - Saturday January 27th - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm & Sunday January 28th - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm IV Working Effectively in the the Emergency System - Tuesday: January 30th - 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm V Street Smarts - Wednesday: January 31st - 6:00 pm-9:30 pm VI Dealing With Death -Thursday: February 1st - 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm VII Policies & Procedures - Saturday: February 3rd - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm VIII Completion Celebration - Saturday: February 3rd - 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm For Continuing Education (2nd Tuesday of Every Month) - Location: Sierra Oaks Senior Center IX First Continuing Education Meeting March 12th - 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm X Second Continuing Education Meeting April 9th - 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
